One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six....

Those words still ring in my ears… albeit fainter as the years go by… “You have Breast Cancer.” Life forever changed from the day of diagnosis. Today, I add another tally mark, another year of survivorship, another year of losing more friends to this disease, another year of remembering and implementing  the lessons that I have learned from cancer, another year of hoping and praying that it does not come back, another year of making memories, but most important ... another year of life!

Siblings!

I do not have a younger sibling, but for those of you who do I am sure that you will understand and hopefully smile!

The Best Gift... Arms of an Angel

I have asked my daughter to sing this song for me for quite a few years... Almost 6 to be exact. When I was diagnosed with cancer and faced with the possibility of death, this was one of the songs that I wanted to be played at my funeral. I love this song. Who better to sing it for me than my daughter? Thank fully I am healthy and still here to enjoy it. I hope you will too.

I would also like to take this moment to pay tribute to someone who I have so much respect and admiration for. Susan Niebur, WhyMommy who blogs at Toddler Planet and started Mothers with Cancer, died 2 months ago. I have had so much trouble adding her to my "mb remembers" list. She was so smart and so young and so accomplished.
I have a quote that reminds me of Susan, but I can't seem to find it. It went something like this..."some stars burn so brightly that they can't burn for too long". She was a shining star, a wife, daughter, friend, Mom, she was an Astrophysicist and worked for NASA. They have even named an asteroid after her... how cool is that?
An orbit diagram of Susan's asteroid.

You can read more about Susan here...

Susan made on impact on so many people who never even met her in person. I can only imagine the impact and immense grief that the people who did meet her must be going through. I sincerely hope she in the Arms of the Angels...

I HeArt Fridays!

Today I felt a little panic set in... I thought I did not have a heart photo for today. The truth is that I always have extra heart photos that I have not published yet... but then I remembered that I saw this beauty earlier in the week...
This may end up to be one of my fav's!

The Los Angeles Zoo...

I love Zoos. I loved going to The Buffalo Zoo when we lived there. Dante was 3 when we moved here so he does not remember that Zoo. Recently I have started doing some of the things that I use to enjoy doing. Going to the Zoo is one of them.  A few weeks ago we went to The Santa Ana Zoo. It is a very nice zoo and it does not take too long to walk through. It makes a great quick afternoon jaunt.

Monday, Dante and I went to The LA Zoo. We had the whole day and we needed that with the drive time. Dante does not have many interests. He loves books, anything electronic and animals. We had a great time. The Zoo is easy to get to, clean and you can see everything in one day. I will spare you the complete set of 340 pictures and highlight some of our favorites:

Timon was posing for the camera...
I love how different they look from standing upright to laying down...
"What are you looking at?"
Nina and I love Flamingos... So took this one of "stretch" for her...
I love that the under side of their wings are black...
I love this photo... me taking a photo of Dante taking a photo of the Gorilla...

So statuesque...
We loved this Momma and Baby. Any and all monkeys are Dante's favorites. The baby would hang with Mom and then go a little ways by himself and then back to Mom. We watched them for quite awhile...
This picture reminds me of Curious George...
A close-up...
I... love... him....
Another Mom and Baby!
The contemplation of life... or "Mom I am bored!"
Tigers are my favorite Zoo animal... I have always love the tigers... Funny you would think it would be the leopards with all of the leopard stuff I own! This Dad was restless and moving around and roaring.
Isn't this precious?

I loved the legs on this guy!

This guy decided he needed a little splash to cool down!

we ended the day at the new exhibit... The Lair...

We had a great Mom and Son day. I love creating memories with the kids and
we love the LA Zoo!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!!!

I love the fact that no matter how old my kids are, they look forward to coloring eggs each year.

We are in a new place this Easter... Dante said this morning that he did not think he should have to search for his Easter basket any longer...Somehow I don't think the Easter Bunny feels the same way! I am not sure if it is the same in your home, but my kids always find their sibling's Easter basket before they find their own...
Go figure! Enjoy this blessed day with your loved ones.

I HeArt Fridays!

The weeks have been going by so fast that I always have good intentions on blogging... but alas it ends up to be Thursday night again and I have not posted anything. But... my online class Hello Soul, Hello Business should be done in a few weeks, the divorce should be done shortly... and all of the paperwork... boy will I have a lot of collage papers when this is done!

This weekend I saw 6 hearts in nature so I am going to be crazy this week and post all of them at once!

I usually have some time on the weekend to run. I really am having a hard time fitting it in 3 times a week now that I am working full-time.  Since I am looking down... so I don't trip... I tend to see many hearts on the sidewalks and pavement. Sometimes I run right by the heart and then I stop run back and take the picture. Sometimes I like to to look back after I have taken the picture and moved on. Occasionally, I see someone going up to the spot where I took the picture, looking on the ground trying to figure out exactly what I was doing. It brings a second smile to my face!
A few weeks ago, I attended a lecture by Randy Nelson, a creative who has and does work with the top companies in the country. His belief is that many core business skills are only learned in the arts. I fully agree and I am so thankful that this concept is finally getting the attention that it deserves. Artists observe. Randy challenged the group to be more observant each day. I know that once I started to look for hearts in nature, I began to find them in more and more places. This week try it out. Observe your surroundings. Look for patterns. Look for hearts and you will see that love is all around you!
