The Joy Diet - Desire

The Joy Diet
Martha Beck

Desire:

Each Day, Identify, Articulate, and explore at least one of your Heart’s Desires.

Ah yes desire… I have pretty much always lived in the future… when I get this or accomplish this… As a young girl it is what kept me alive…

I thought about this a lot this week… I still want certain material things in life… stuff for the house… or the kids… a few nice vacations… Hawaii, Italy…

But then when I really thought about it … what do I truly desire?

I have to go back to that darn cancer lesson list again… what I truly desire are things that money cannot buy…

Good Health and Time

My sister is here visiting, so I am sharing an older painting as my vision card this week…this way I can fulfill my desire to spend time with her!

My desire is the same Mary Beth -- time and my health. And now I'm ready for something more -- I didn't know when I would be, but I find that I am as I move further into "life" as it was (but never will be again).

A lovely painting and I love that you chose to share this so you could fulfill your desire to spend more time with your sister! Enjoy one another!!

Those are absolutely wonderful desires - and you are right - money can't buy them!
May all your desires and dreams be fulfilled!
Love your painting! Love the colours especially of this abstract.

Thank you for taking the time to share about your journey and your painting, even with your sister visiting. Good Health and Time are all the any of ask should ask for. Without them, everything else is meaningless. Thank you for this reminder.

I think your painting really illustrates desire very well, caught in the middle of the swirl of choices. I wish you time and good health too!

Interesting thing about desire for those of us who have walked with cancer ... It becomes more authentic and possible.

Inspiring painting. I can see a figure in the middle of fabulous color and swirl of action.

Your heading painting with the flowers and buttons really makes me smile. Such color and vibrancy. Health has been coming up for me as a desire as well.

What a gorgeous painting.... and good for you for honoring that time with your sister! I have never had to live with cancer (knock on wood), but I can imagine that your desires are that much more important, prioritized, and powerful, a moment to moment testament on how you choose to live. Here's to deep healing and lots and lots of time.... many blessings.

Eye opening post. I looked at the chapter from a different perspective. It is very useful to read something like you wrote, it gives it a deeper meaning.

Mary Beth,

That is a beautiful collage that you have at the top of your post. I love it. I found your blog through Jamie's list. Very cool stuff. For a moment, I thought MB stood for Martha Beck! lol...
